Reddish provides great relief after recent storms

Sponsored by CSMS Design and Print Solutions.

After the cancellation of the two previous winter competitions due to abnormal rain conditions the superb Reddish Vale course provided welcome relief for a big field able to enjoy their course with most others in the area either being totally or partially closed.

Their outstanding Mackenzie course drew multiple praise from the players for its design and lay-out and its terrific condition.

Leading the praise was experienced PGA professional Chris Bibby who was playing the course for the first time.
Chris Said: “Wow what a wonderful course that I cannot wait to play again - in great condition and with plenty of spectacular and testing holes – a real hidden gem!”

The quality of the course was reflected in some great and close scoring.

Reigning Professional Order of Merit champion and current leader of the OoM Jamie Howarth (Davenport) picked up more vital points with a top individual pro score of 42, one more than Grant Hamerton (Pike Fold) and his brother Scott Howarth (Davenport).

Scott got great support from his amateur partner Mike Lamb (Bramhall) as they posted a great score of 48 to top the Pro Am section, two more than Callum Blinkhorn and Andy Potter (Leigh) and Jamie Howarth and Paul Robinson (Davenport).

It needed a cpo on 44 to see Richard Margrave (Stamford) and Paul Traynor (Saddleworth) take top spot from Ross Birch (Stockport) and Charles Herbert (Reddish Vale), two more than Steve Hamlet (Disley) and Ian Thomason (Reddish Vale).

Jamie Howarth completed a good day for the family by winning the Nearest the Pin prize.
