Josh and Chris in cruise control
Sponsored by Andrew Earlam (Saddleworth GC professional)
After the recent superb weather we have enjoyed the latest fixture at Werneth GC saw the players endure, cold, windy and wet conditions and show their resilience.
The competition was switched from its original venue of Saddleworth GC due to technical problems and Werneth were friendly and supportive hosts.
Josh Crumplin (Disley assistant pro) and his regular partner Chris Jackson (Tytherington) have dominated the Winter series and are coasting at the top of the Professional and Amateur Order of Merits which will be concluded on President’s Day at Disley on April 30.
Josh led in the individual pro section with 38, two more than Phil Archer (Poulton Park) and Jamie Howarth Davenport.
Chris Jackson again gave great support to Josh to see them top the Pro Am section with 43 from Phil Archer and Mark Pasquill (Leigh) 40 and Jamie Howarth and Edgar Quinn (Davenport) 39.
Local knowledge paid off in the Am Am section as Werneth’s dynamic duo of Mike Bentley and Chris Greaves led in with 42. (Pictured with MDGA President Ian Brooks and Werneth Greenkeeper Graham Turner.)
Next up were Prestbury brothers Tom and Elliot Kirton with 40, one more than Graham Holt and Mark Routledge (Werneth) who won a cpo on 39.
The final winner was Tom Kirton who took the nearest the pin prize.
Alliance President Ian Brooks (Bolton Old Links) praised the players for their hardiness in difficult condition and the club for all of their hellp in enabling the fixture to take place and sponsor Andrew Earlam.
