Bramhall defies the weather to host a great competition
Sponsored by Chris Bibby, PGA Professional
After last week’s cancellation of the Alliance fixture at Worsley GC the alarm bells were ringing for Bramhall after more heavy rain overnight.
Many courses in the area were closed but the hard work put in by the green staff and excellent condition of the course were enjoyed by a full field in another close and friendly competition, sponsored by Alliance legend Chris Bibby.
The Bramhall clubhouse is a delight to be in with terrific service and a warm and friendly welcome from members and staff.
There were a few new faces in the competition and they were able to recognise the Alliance motto of ‘Friendship Though Golf’ on and off the course.
One of the stars of the day was ‘The Lonesome Cowboy’ Jim Cunliffe who showed his superb multi-tasking skills on his own for most of a long day of immaculate administration.
Alliance PGA star Phil Archer (Poulton Park) again led the way in the individual pro section with 40 points taking him two clear of Alex Pritchard (Poulton Park), Sean Blinkhorn (Leigh) and Alistair Waddell (Chorlton).
In the Pro Am section Callum Blinkhorn and his excellent Leigh partner Andy Shaw led in with 45 from Phil Archer and Mark Pasquill (Leigh) 44 and Alex Pritchard and Robin Wolf (Poulton Park), Josh Crumplin and Chris Jackson (Disley) Sam Shaw and Steve Yates(New Mills) and Alliance Captain Grant Hamerton and Bobby Heron (Pike Fold), all 42.
Brian Barwick and Neil Griffiths (Sale) were the leaders in the Am Am section with 41 from Matt Robertson and Lewis Green (Pike Fold) 39 and Steve Kewley and Paul Hughes (Disley) winning a card play off on 38.
The Nearest the Pin winner was Steve Austin (Alder Root)
