The second competition in the busy MDGA Winter Series saw an early arrival of Autumn weather, with cold winds and heavy showers, endured by a full Alliance field at Leigh Golf Club.
The green staff ensured that the quality field had a top-class course in immaculate condition to enjoy with plenty of warm and friendly support in the excellent clubhouse.
The early pace was set by Chorley pro Andy Palmer and his dad Tony (pictured) who posted a superb 45 points.
Andy provided 35 points but relied on some fantastic putting from Tony to enable them to post the winning score in the pro am section.
There was a pack of four pairs locked on two points behind them- Callum Blinkhorn and Ryan Taylor (Leigh), Jamie Howarth (Davenport) and Steve Pinnington (Tyhterington, Richard Booth and Brian Greenbank (Hale) and Josh Crumplin and Chris Jackson (Disley).
The individual pro competition was close led in by current OoM champion Jamie Howarth 36, one more than Andy Palmer, Sean Blinkhorn and Josh Crumplin.
It was also tight in the Am Am section led in by Balint Varga (Houghwood) and Andy Shaw (Leigh) 43 from John Kilner and Tom Baker Junior (Hart Common) 42 and Danny Ritchie (Pleasington) and Alan Ainscough (Wigan) 40.
The nearest the pin prize was won by Paul Hesford (Leigh) and the raffle prizes (Supporting The Christie) went to Mark Hancock (Stand GC) and Craig Gilligan (High Legh Park)
