Sponsors in the prizes again

Competition Sponsor: Jimmy O'Reilly Taxis

ANOTHER good field of professionals and amateurs enjoyed a great day of golf at Leyland Golf Club who are regular hosts of Alliance competitions.

Their course was in great condition and saw some excellent scores posted and all of the players expressed their appreciation and admiration for the course and its fine club.

Last week at Dunham Forest the sponsor's team won the am am section of the competition and Alliance stalwart Jimmy O’Reilly (Ellesemere GC), a former Alliance OoM winner and sponsor for the day was not to be outdone.

Jimmy had an excellent partner in club colleague Barry Seddon and they stormed to victory with 44 points from Chris Lee and Pete Fotheringham (Mellor and Townscliffe) 41 and David Torkington and Robert Sinclair (Ellesmere) 40.

The Pro am section saw more Alliance legends shine as Alan Crompton and John Egan (Haigh Hall) led in with a hot 46 points from in-form Kris Andrews and Wes Reeves (Ashton-on-Mersey) 45 and Craig Corrigan and Ron White (Bolton Old Links) 43.

It was tight in the individual pro section with Ian Ridgway (Disley) (pictured) carding an excellent 41, one more than Jamie Howarth (Davenport) and Phil Kelly.

The nearest the pin prize went to Marc Gauchi (Ashton-on-Mersey).

The new Alliance Captain Scott Jackson (Disley) was delighted to receive his Captain’s badge from President Ian Brooks (Bolton Old Links).
